It has been announced that Chinese academicians have prepared an encyclopedia of the Holy Quran. Yahya Lin Song, a professor at the Central National University and a well-known Chinese Muslim, headed up the team of 40. Lin Song, a famous translator, states that the work is unparalleled in its field. Professor Yahya Lin Song stated that the motive behind preparing the encyclopedia was not only to be inform the more than one billion three hundred million Muslims of the legal and social principles of Islam and to act as a guide, but also so that scholars all over the world could turn to the Quran to attain information about Islam. Ling Song, a Hui Muslims, was born in Gejiu in 1930. He has headed up and judged all the Quranic competitions that have been held in China since 1995: "The number and quality of the competitors in the Quranic recitation competitions which have been held for 7 years has risen every year. One day I believe that the Chinese Muslims will win first place in the international Quranic recitation competitions. (TIMETURK) |
