The Prophet around the World

See Islam in South-East Asia

In this increasingly globalized world almost no city on the face of earth has remained untouched by Islam. Whether this influence occurred during the early campaigns of the first Islamic states, or later during Ottoman times or even today with an ever-growing number of converts, Islam continues to make its mark on a wide geography from the southeastern corners of Asia to the heart of Europe, from the bottom of the world in South Africa to North America.

Lastprophet.info continues introducing a new monthly file entitled "The Prophet around the World." This file will take our readers to a new city/country somewhere in the world every month to find the connection with Islam and our Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Every city has developed its own unique tradition of Islam and original ways to venerate its holy Prophet over the centuries. Through these folders, we aim to offer a micro study of these differing regions and traditions as a means of uncovering the different perceptions of Prophet Muhammad around the world and to broaden our own perspectives.

Last month, we investigated how Prophet Muhammad is commemorated in Bosnia and Herzigovina. In June we will focus on the recovering area of South-East Asia, Indonesia and Malaysia. Throughout the coming weeks, we will present multiple perspectives on the country from its first encounter with Islam to the institutions that were effective in the transfer of Islamic values from one generation to the other, as well as examining Islamic symbols and carrying out exclusive interviews with the locals about their perception of Prophet Muhammad.
