Prominent scholars and performers will address global audiences in their living rooms via the CelebrateMercy live webcast during the month of Ramadan.
Following its international success last year, the webcast will present the Prophet Muhammad’s life and character, focusing specifically on his experience of the fasting month, to both Muslim and non-Muslim audiences.
In so doing, the webcast aims to work towards dispelling negative stereotypes and misconceptions about the Last Prophet as well as fostering a deeper and more profound understanding of the Prophet and his life. Prophetic sayings about the blessings of Ramadan and Qur’anic verses revealed to the Prophet both during and about this month will also feature.
Sponsored by Zaytuna College, Seeker’s Guidance, Deen Intensive Foundation, Al-Ghazzali Centre for Islamic Sciences and Human Development, and MYNA, the webcast will feature an international line-up of speakers including Tariq Ramadan, Ingrid Mattson, Zaid Shakir, and Yahya Rhodus.
Interactive webcasts will also enable viewers to chat together and broadcast themselves via webcam to other viewers. CelebrateMercy now has a global base of over 1,000 volunteers and 10,000 Facebook fans.
CelebrateMercy was founded in February 2010. Its inaugural Ramadan webcast in August 2010 (Ramadan), gained media coverage on CNN’s website.
