Islamic encyclopedia written and prepared by a handful of scholars and edited by Syed Iqbal Zaheer compiled in two volumes in English was released in Bangalore. Broadly, it covers religious aspects of Islam and its progress over the centuries.
The contents in encyclopedia cover a wide range of topics like definitions of Islamic terms, life of Prophet Muhammad, social and political movements in Islam across the globe, Islamic jurisprudence, Muslim scholars and scientists, Muslim minorities and history of Islam, etc. Encyclopedia was released by Justice Mohammad Anwar, judge of Karnataka High Court.
Iqbal Zaheer while speaking at the launch of the copy of encyclopedia said that it took nearly 15 years for team from East West Educational Tools to finish the gigantic task. The need for this encyclopedia was felt in order to negate the earlier efforts in the West through encyclopedia on Islam and Muslims primarily aimed to distort the originality and the true essence of Islam.
